Fall is a Great Time to Start!
Well, it is September… Another summer gone with all the great memories that go with it. They went by fast those two months. Imagine if you had started your weight loss journey in June? That’s the funny thing about time, it keeps on going no matter what. Another two months will soon pass and the question is, “Would you like to be 10, 20 or even 30 pounds lighter?”. It is possible and the sooner you start the sooner you can reach your goal. It will be December before we know it and you can make the most of the next few months. There is never a perfect time to begin this journey, life happens with all its interruptions. Start now – you’re worth it and time keeps on moving; it’s up to you how you want to look when another two months have passed.
And since we’re coming up to fall its time to think about soup! Get your favorite broth and load it with veggies. Make a large batch for the week and always have a filling go-to snack. Having a bowl of soup as an appetizer before meals helps get your vegetables in and fills you up. Use pureed cauliflower or broccoli for a creamier soup and be adventurous with spices to keep things interesting. If you have excess herbs from the garden or farmers market, freeze them in a little water in ice-cube trays and pop them into your soup when needed for extra flavor. At the end of the week grab any sad looking wilted veggies that keep getting passed over and throw them in a pot; the kale you had great intentions for, the excess summer squash you have no place to store, and maybe you can’t eat the beets, but the beet tops are healthy and perfect for your soup!
And so, take some time now to stock the pantry with nourishing food and get rid of anything getting in the way of your success. Preparation is half the battle and menu planning is a great way to reduce stress and save time. Let’s look forward and learn from the past. Time moves quickly and now is the time to begin (or re-start) a healthy lifestyle and get your soup on!
